Proposal Scoring and Acceptance

  • Symposium proposals are scored by the Program Committee and by invited experts in the proposal's topic area. The criteria are:
  • 1Quality of data
  • 2Innovation
  • 3Diversity (countries, institutions, genders, career level)
  • 4Potential interest of the topic to attendees
  • Diversity and representation from different countries are encouraged.

Submission Process

  • Symposium proposals must be submitted online through the official ASSM 2026 website.
  • To submit a proposal, you are required to create an account to access the portal.
  • Please review the submission guidelines carefully and ensure your proposal is well-organized and complete before submission.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each of the below elements is required for the symposium proposal to be considered. The proposal must:
  • Focus on a single topic that is relevant, scientifically excellent, and appropriate for a 75-minute time slot.
  • Include the symposium title, summary (max. 300 words), learning objectives, and target audience.
  • Include each participant's presentation title, full name, country, and email address (note: 2 chairs and 4 speakers per session)

Topic Categories

The Program Committee encourages submissions across all areas of sleep medicine and research. All symposia will be categorized into one or more of the following topic areas:

Rules for Submission

  • 1Acceptance of the proposal for a symposium does not imply that the organising committee will cover any expenses of the chairpersons and speakers.
  • 2All members of the faculty of a symposium should register for the meeting.
  • 3The proposer should receive the acceptance of every speaker in their session prior to submission.
  • 4Only the proposer will receive notification of the final committee decision, and he/she is responsible to communicate the result to all other chairs and speakers.
  • 5All speakers listed in an accepted proposal are required to submit an abstract or lecture notes.
